Why should I take an NDTA, Inc. Approved Course?

NDTA, Inc. is the governing organization in North America that credentials all of the Instructors who teach the NDT/Bobath Certificate Courses for the Treatment and Management of Individuals with Cerebral Palsy and Adults with Adult Hemiplegia. The Neuro-Developmental Association was formed in 1973. We currently have 79 Instructors who have a cumulative number of over 800 years instructing for the association. All NDTA, Inc. Instructors must go through a standardized and rigorous process to both become an Instructor and to maintain her/his active status. This insures that course participants benefit from highly skilled Instructors who are master clinicians as well.

The Instructors work throughout the year and meet annually and by committee, design core curriculum, improve testing methods, develop models for research and develop policy and procedures to further the association. The curriculum of all NDTA, Inc. Approved Courses has been developed and standardized for PT, OT, and SLP content. This is continually being evaluated and updated.

The Instructors also attend yearly meetings to share ideas regarding treatment and to discuss current trends and information regarding research. The Instructors are constantly updating clinical reasoning and practical methods that are applicable to the health care environment we all work in today. The Theory and Research committees are constantly updating the theory of the NDT/Bobath approach. The intent of the Instructors who conduct NDTA, Inc. Approved Courses is to provide the participant with state of the art education that results in new skills they can use immediately to influence their patient’s potential for recovery.

In each course, the Instructors are required to conduct peer review evaluations. Also in each course, CONFIDENTIAL Instructor evaluations are submitted by the participants to the NDTA, Inc. National office. This information is documented and then sent to the Instructor Group Quality Assurance committee for review. Following the review, the Instructor is notified of the feedback received and provided plans for improvement in any area of instruction if necessary. If Instructor improvement is required based on the results of the confidential evaluations from the course participants, this is coordinated and monitored by the Quality Assurance committee.

Is there a procedure in place if I need to voice an opinion regarding my experience?

Yes, The Instructors Group has an established procedure for any participant to submit a grievance if that participant has determined that they were treated in an unfair manner. The grievance committee will review any complaint that a participant elects to submit in writing. The intent of the policies and procedures developed by the Grievance committee is to protect both the instructor and participant, to insure that instruction is of the highest quality and that the participant is provided the best learning experience possible.

Will I be able to take Advanced Courses if I successfully complete the Certificate Course?

Yes. It is a requirement for you to have successfully completed the Certificate Course to be able to take an Advanced NDTA, Inc. Approved Course. You will be required to submit your NDTA certificate number to the Instructor before being accepted to an NDTA, Inc. Advanced Course.

So, why should I take an NDTA, Inc. Approved Course?

These are just some of the many reasons why you should take an NDTA, Inc. Approved Course. Make sure that your educational experience is from the organization that developed NDT into what it is today and continually works to insure your educational experience is of the highest quality and standards that you deserve!
