Gay L. Girolami, PT, MS, received her BS in physical therapy at Marquette University and a Master of Science in pediatric physical therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her work experience includes outpatient physical therapy with infants and children with neurological disorders. Gay frequently lectures and provides continuing education courses in the US, Europe and South America on topics related to treatment of infants and children with neurological disorders and developmental delay, strength and fitness programs for children with cerebral palsy and posture, balance and gait.. Her master’s research resulted in the development and pilot testing of a supplemental motor performance measure, which was further developed with a group of PT and OT colleagues and is now marketed under the name of the Test of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP). She has also authored and co-authored numerous book chapters on assessment and treatment of infants with neurological disorders. Gay is the executive director of Pathways center in Glenview, Illinois, an outpatient clinic providing physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and social service to infants and children with neurological, sensory and language disorders. Gay is currently pursuing her doctorate in Motor Control and Learning in the Department of Movement Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
