Co-Chair Conference Committee REGIONAL UPDATES2010-06-09 The NDTA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the opportunity for you to become NDT certified. Many of you who have taken the basic eight week pediatric and three week adult hemiplegia courses have requested a certification process. As an organization, NDTA too believes that we must recognize the level of competence required for the successful completion of these courses. Clients and patients, employers and insurance companies call for certifications too to show that greater skill, knowledge, and evidence are a part of therapists' professional development.
Please click on the certification button on the right side of the NDTA home page for more information on becoming certified.
Parents/Families/Caregivers annual dues have been lowered to just $25!
We encourage you to spread the word! They’ll receive the member benefits of Lending Library, Member directory, and much more. Click on the Join NDTA link on the home page of www.ndta.org to get started.
Regional Chairs attended the NDTA Conference in St Louis this past May. We greeted the attendees, provided pins where they located their home towns on a map and gave away a really cool key-chain with a light and whistle as well as a compass. The "meet and greet" Pizza Party was well received and attended. Information about the activities the regions are working on and recruiting persons to assist with the 100 city initiative project. Staffing the booth during the breaks was a busy time, as we sold our cozy vest, NDTA publications as well as, some really colorful socks which were made by a woman's shelter group. Angelica was instrumental in procurement of the socks and this was a great benefit to the women in the shelter. The newly updated booth was well received showing the revolving demo pictures of treatments on the computer and the new banners. It is always wonderful to get-together and share ideas, friendships and memories with our colleagues. Thanks for all the help the regional chairs provided to make this years conference a great success. STUDY GROUPS2010-01-13 We are looking for interested persons to spearhead these groups in each area of our Region. If you are interested, please contact me at cparker@ntstherapy.com
LOCAL CONTACTS2009-01-11 The 100 City Initiative has begun!!!
In the last few months, your NDTA region chairs have worked hard to clarify and establish a list of local contact member roles and responsibilities. Please read over the information and contact us if you are interested in this great opportunity. If you have already notified us of your interest in the past, we will be contacting you shortly to update you on the upcoming needs.
Local contacts are NDTA members who facilitate communication between regional chairs and members living in a designated geographical level. They will be appointed by regional chairs for two years and will carry out projects from regional chairs and the NDTA Board of Directors. Regional Chairs will hold two conference calls a year (April and October) with the local contacts from their region to update them of BOD news, to brainstorm regional ideas and activities, and to communicate volunteer opportunities.
Local contact member roles and responsibilities:
• Refer client to NDT therapist: Match a client/family needing an NDT therapist with a therapist or clinic in their area as requested by region chair
• NDT Promotion: Educate a client/family interested in NDT treatment
• Member support: Answer membership questions in their area as directed by region chair.
• Course assistance: Assist with NDTA conferences/courses in their area.
• Course/event sites: Assist in locating sites for courses or local NDTA events
Optional Duties based on skills and interests:
• NDTA promotion: Assist with NDTA days at local courses or staff booth at professional conferences.
• Study groups: Participate in or facilitate local small groups.
• Testimonials: Solicit information about NDT from interested clients/caregivers for publication or use in course promotion.
• Website: Contribute local news or member highlights to region’s website page.
• Network: Contribute articles, case studies or other information to the NDTA newsletter, The Network.
• Course promotion: Work with region chairs to market/advertise courses
We are proud to announce the campaign to establish a list of dedicated members as Local or District Representatives. We are searching for NDTA members to get involved in NDTA’s mission that promotes networking to meet the needs of the therapeutic community and enhance the communication between NDTA and its’ membership.
Several new contacts for various areas of Texas and Louisiana have been identified but with an area as large as ours, we need to cover more ground! Thank you to those of you who have expressed interest in this great project and please continue your desire to be a local contact. As our network expands, we will be able to meet the needs of members and families in even more areas! Some areas need representation from pediatric or adult members.
If you are interested in this opportunity, or would like to receive more information, please contact me. Now that the holidays are over...this is the time to commit! Please send me a quick email (cparker@ntstherapy.com) of your availability and I would be happy to contact you and together we can make our Region great.
