Conference Planning

Co-Chairs: K McHaley Gilbert, PT, C/NDT and Judith Langford

The Conference Planning Committee plans and produces an annual conference program, bringing a state-of-the-art educational program to the therapy community based on theory, research and clinical application as it relates to NDT.

Representatives of the NDTA Instructor Group and some NDTA members develop the education content and identify conference presenters. The Conference Planning Committee, along with the NDTA staff, plan and produce all other aspects of the conference.

All Conference Planning Committee members are required to participate actively in monthly planning teleconferences and to be onsite during the meeting to assist with the management of the conference.

The Education Committee oversees the efforts of the association to provide quality education.

Goals:

  • Through collaboration with other NDTA committees, the goals of the Education Committee are to facilitate ongoing educational opportunities and to make such opportunities available through various sources, such as distance learning and seminars.  
  • The Education Committee works to expand resources and avenues to support NDTA principles, both nationally and internationally, and to ensure that the information that is available reflects and supports current research and practice.

Instructor Group Executive

Chair: Wendy Kline, OTR/L, C/NDT

The Instructor Group is composed of active members of NDTA who have met standardized criteria to teach or assist in teaching NDTA approved basic and advanced level courses. 

Call Schedule: First Tuesday of the month at 5:15 p.m. PST

Purpose:

  • Develop and maintain standards and procedures for entry of students/participants and establish criteria for successful course completion
  • Develop and maintain the competency standards for instructors and performance standards in all NDTA approved courses
  • Develop, maintain, and update course curriculum based on the current evidence pertinent to NDT

Goals:

  • Support the IG Group and standing committees and serve as a team member to the ongoing projects of the NDTA Board of Directors and staff
  • Complete pediatric modular curriculum
  • Assist NDTA staff with NDTA-sponsored seminars
  • Provide educational sessions for the full Instructors Group during the annual meeting
  • Development of AH assistant course and consideration of AH modular format

Strategic Plan:

  • Succession planning – emphasis on increasing the number of candidates for CI and PT, as well as OT and SLP, especially in the adult course content

Committee representation with a balance of Instructors, clinicians, and academicians with C/NDT; PT/OT/SLP members; and members representing both pediatrics and adults.

Call Schedule: Monthly 1.5 hour video conference meetings, second Thursday of the month at 4:45 p.m. PST

  • NDTA Research Foundation: Initiative with the NDTA Board of Directors toward fundraising for NDTATM Contemporary Practice Model large scale grants, e.g. PhD/post Doc studies such as a fidelity measure study and efficacy studies
  • Fidelity Measure Task Force: Working toward development of a measurement tool to objectify adherence to NDTATM Contemporary Practice Model when used or referred to in published studies, or for peer to peer self-study.
