NDTA Centers of Excellence (COE) is a program which will link NDTA membership, education, and research to therapy facilities and their clients. The Centers of Excellence Committee continues to develop this program by defining its requirements and expectations.

The Centers of Excellence goals include:

  • Rewrite renewal process for existing COE’s
  • Determine additional benefits that can be offered to COE’s
  • Enhance communications with and between COE's

The Certification Committee keeps the NDT Certification and Recertification program and its policies and procedures current. The committee also assists members and the National Office in answering questions or concerns that arise outside of the policy and procedure.

The Certification goals include:

  • Implement marketing strategies for NDTA Certification and Recertification Program
  • Implementation of the Therapist Assistant Credentialing Program

Conference Planning


Committee Chair: Kimberly Westhoff, OTR/L, C/NDT

The Conference Planning Committee plans and produces an annual conference program, bringing a state-of-the-art educational program to the therapy community based on theory, research and clinical application as it relates to NDT.

Representatives of the NDTA Instructor Group and some NDTA members develop the education content and identify conference presenters. The National Office along with members of the conference planning committee plan and produce all other aspects of the conference.

All Conference Committee members are required to participate actively in monthly planning teleconferences and to be on-site during the meeting to assist with the management of the conference.

The Conference Planning goals include:

  • The goal of the Conference Planning Committee is to plan and produce an annual high-quality conference that contributes to the visibility and branding of NDTA and that generates a consistent revenue for the association. In addition, our goal is to help meet the educational needs of the NDTA membership.

Education

The Education Committee oversees the efforts of the association to provide quality education.

The Education goals include:

  • Through collaboration with other NDTA committees, the goals of the Education Committee are to facilitate ongoing educational opportunities and to make such opportunities available through various sources, such as distance learning and seminars.  
  • The Education Committee works to expand resources and avenues to support NDTA principles both nationally and internationally, and to ensure that the information that is available reflects and supports current research and practice.

The Finance Committee serves as a fiscally responsible organization and keeps the finances of the NDTA transparent to the IG, Board of Directors, and the Members of the NDTA.

The Finance goals include:

  • Support strong financial position to meet NDTA operational goals
  • Rebuild reserve fund
  • Proactive review of income/expenditures to provide input to BOD regarding current plans or activities that need more attention

Instructor Group Executive

Committee Chair: Jane L. Styer-Acevedo, PT, DPT, C/NDT 

The Instructors Group is composed of active members of NDTA, Inc. who have met standardized criteria to teach or assist in teaching NDTA approved basic and advanced level courses. 

Purpose of the Instructors Group is to:

  • Develop and maintain standards and procedures for entry of students/participants and establish criteria for successful course completion.
  • Develop and maintain the competency standards for instructors and performance standards in all NDTA approved courses.
  • Develop, maintain, and update course curriculum based on the current evidence pertinent to NDT.
  • The Instructor Group Executive goals include:
  • Support the IG Group and standing committees and serve as a team member to the ongoing projects of the NDTA BOD and Office
  • Complete pediatric modular curriculum
  • Assist National Office with NDTA-sponsored seminars
  • Provide educational sessions for the full Instructors Group during the annual meeting.
  • Development of AH assistant course and consideration of AH modular format.
  • We currently have 2 areas that we are addressing for our Strategic Plan:
  • Succession planning – emphasis on increasing the number of candidates for CI and PT, as well as OT and SLP, especially in the adult course content.

Membership Development

The Membership Development Committee ensures the long-term vitality of the organization by appropriately marketing the value of NDTA education in a way that attracts new members and increases overall membership. Purpose of the Membership Development is to:
Oversee implementation, measurement, and updating/modification of the NDTA membership development/marketing plan so that the association's membership goals are achieved.

The Membership Development goals include:

  • Ensuring timely implementation of marketing programs/tactics to attract new members. This includes:
  • Development of tactical programs for: (i) Social media, (ii) Website improvements, (iii) Database improvements, and (iv) Effective marketing of courses and seminars; and,
  • Review and input as needed into the plans and work product of other NDTA committees that have been assigned development of key marketing plan tactics by the Board of Directors.
  • Measurement of all key tactical programs so as to evaluate the need for improvement and continued implementation
  • Updating of the marketing plan over time (i.e. goals, strategic imperatives, tactical priorities, committee assignments)
  • Ensuring consistent communication of the NDTA brand positioning/key communication elements throughout the organization.

Membership Support

The Membership Committee explores and implements incentives and ‘perks’ for our members and responds to questions or concerns from the members by interfacing with the NDTA, Inc. Board of Directors and the management of NDTA, Inc. 

The Membership Support goals include:

  • Promote, market, and expand the benefits of NDTA membership 
  • Explore reciprocal website linking with “sister” NDT international sites and NDT-supporting sites ie: corporate sponsors, etc. 
  • Coordinate with other NDTA committees Education, NCPC, and Publications– at international, national, and local levels to bring in new members in all membership categories 
  • Participate in Annual Membership Meeting including format and presentation 
  • Monitor membership trends and membership renewal process

  • Planning issue themes, soliciting articles, editing, proofreading and preparing Network for online publication 6x/year.

Purpose: ‘Towards efficacy - NDTA Contemporary Practice ModelTM peer reviewed research’. 

Committee representation with a balance of Instructors / clinicians / academicians with C/NDT;  PT/OT/SLP members, and members representing both pediatrics and adults.

Monthly ubervideoconference meetings 1.5 hours

Initiatives & Task Forces

Mini-Grant program: Annual disbursement of small grants of $10,000 - $20,000 for seeding grants – for example NDTA Contemporary Practice ModelTM  Pilot Studies

NDTA Research Foundation: Initiative with the BOD / Membership Development Committee towards fundraising for NDTA Contemporary Practice ModelTM large scale grants eg PhD/post Doc studies such as a fidelity measure study and efficacy studies

Fidelity Measure Task Force: Working towards development of a measurement tool to objectify adherence to NDTA Contemporary practice ModelTM when used or referred to in published studies, or for peer to peer self-study. 

Posters program: For the NDTA annual National Conference

‘Examining The Evidence’ Articles:

  • Articles update: Updating the NDTA website articles incorporating NDTA Contemporary Practice ModelTM articles intervention to 2014 - 2020
  • And Articles with ‘supporting evidence’ for NDTA Contemporary Practice ModelTM intervention - ie having some common practice components.

Outcome Measures working group: Suggestions for measuring outcomes of NDTA Contemporary Practice ModelTM intervention

NDTA website: Towards creation of a dedicated Research Webpage on the NDTA site inclusive of articles, & clinically friendly outcome measures and design suggestions

NDTA research video / webinar NDTA Contemporary Practice ModelTM for example for use in certificate courses

Document outcomes from C/NDT courses  - considerations including therapist satisfaction, client outcomes (qualitative / quantitative), time involvement
