1 Continuing Education Credit(s) Available
Interactive Metronome (IM) can be used to improve the neurologic functions of motor planning, sequencing and processing. IM challenges an individual to improve these processes by introducing an activity to match a rhythmic beat with repetitive hand and foot exercises. This article provides a basic understanding of IM and also reviews the case report of an 11 month old boy with hemiplegia who participated in an IM Home training program. IM training emphasized using the involved side and included hand-over hand activities utilizing both upper and lower extremities which had a positive effect on his fine and gross motor ability levels.
