Abstract: Dysphagia is described as a condition which causes difficulty with swallowing and typically involves impaired structures and/or function of the oral cavity. These structures can include the lips, tongue, palate, and muscles of mastication and may present with secondary complications of dehydration, thickening of saliva, and pooling of secretions, thereby increasing the risk of aspiration.
