Benefits of NDT Assistant Credential Status

  • Recognition for the knowledge acquired and the continuous process of updating information that is involved in being NDT trained therapist assistants
  • Integrate current NDT theory and practice
  • Prestige in NDT credential accomplishments
  • Credentials are at times required by employers or state and local agencies
  • The credentialing letters "NDT/T" are granted for use by approved applicants

Requirements

  1. Individual must have successfully completed one of the below NDTA sponsored and approved Assistant Credential CoursesNDTA Training Course for PT/OT/SLP Assistants Working with Children with Cerebral Palsy and Other Neuromuscular Disorders NDTA Training Course for PT/OT/SLP Assistants Working with Adults with Stroke and Brain Injury
  2. Individual must hold active NDTA membership. A lapse in membership will cause a deactivation of NDT Assistant Credential.

Application Process

If applying within 12 months of the successful course completion:

  • submitted within 30 days of the course end date, the application fee is $0.
  • submitted after 30 days of the course end date, the fee is $95.

If applying after 12 months of course completion date:

  • an NDTA approved course of 12 hours in length must also be submitted. The application must be submitted within 12 months of the successful completion of that course.
  • The application fee is $95.

Continuing Education Requirement

15 hours of continuing education are required per 3-year period.

  • 8 hours minimum must be in NDT training which can include:Any NDTA sponsored education including conferences, seminars, and online Distance Learning courses. Any live course taught by an active NDTA Instructor.
  • The remaining 7 hours can be completed in any profession-related courses. They do not need be NDT related.

1 hour of instruction = 1 contact hour of continuing education. NDT hours for re-credentialing may be obtained by attending either pediatric or adult courses.

Renewal Requirements

  1. Hold active NDTA membership
  2. Obtain 15 hours of continuing education within the 3-year certification time period (see section above for specific information)
  3. Log your continued education hours into your "CE Bank" located on your "My Account" page when logged into your membership account. (NDTA does not enter any hours into individual accounts).
  4. Pay the $95 renewal fee. A $50 late fee will be applied for those renewing after the 60-day grace period. Application for renewal is permitted 6 months prior to NDT/T expiration date. Early renewal does not change initial certification date.
