Therapists must successfully complete one of the NDTA sponsored Certificate Courses listed below:

  • NDTA™ Certificate Course in the Contemporary Practice of NDT for the Management of Adults with Stroke and Brain Injury
  • NDTA™ Certificate Course in the Contemporary Practice of NDT for the Management of Children with Cerebral Palsy and Other Neuromuscular Disorders

Certification Process

All therapists interested in becoming NDT Certified must first complete an application and pay the one-time application fee.

  • NDTA Member Application Fee: $50
  • Non-Member Application Fee: $200

Following the approval of your application, your C/NDT Certification Dashboard account page will be updated and you will be admitted into the Certificate Course.


Upon successful completion of the NDTA Certificate Course, you will be automatically certified and your account page will be updated to reflect your certification status.

Maintenance of Certification Requirements

  • Obtain 20 hours of continuing education within the 3 year certification time period (CE Requirement below)
  • NDTA seminars and distance learning credits will automatically be entered into your CE Bank
  • Manually enter credits into the CE Bank for NDTA Annual conferences and courses sponsored by other educational organizations
  • Submit your Renewal Application by clicking on the C/NDT Certification Dashboard on your account page


Continuing Education Requirement - 20 Contact Hours

20 hours of continuing education are required per 3 year certification period:

  • 8 hours minimum must include:
  1. Any NDTA sponsored education including seminars, distance learning, advanced courses, and conferences
  2. Any course (live or online) taught by an active NDTA Instructor sponsored by other educational organizations
  3. NDT hours may be obtained by attending either pediatric or adult courses taught by an active NDTA Instructor
  • 12 hours can be completed in any profession-related courses and do not need to be NDT related

1 hour of instruction = 1 contact hour of continuing education.



Recertification Fees (per 3-year certification cycle)

  • NDTA Members: $150
  • Non-Members: $550
  • Application for NDT Recertification opens 6 months prior to the individual's expiration date. Early recertification does not change initial NDT Certification date.
  • If submitting your recertification after your expiration date: a $50 late fee will be applied after the 60 day grace period.
  • Retired NDTA members are given a 50% discount for NDT Recertification

Foreign Trained NDT/Bobath Therapists

Pathway to Certification for Foreign Trained NDT/Bobath Therapists

  • Show proof of successful completion of the NDTA Certificate Course.
  • Successfully complete an NDTA Approved Advanced course with patient practicum. You must identify yourself in writing to the instructor prior to registration to an NDTA Advanced Course. An additional fee of $200 USD will be paid to the NDTA Advanced Course Instructor(s) for supervision and evaluation
  • Receive a letter of recommendation from the advanced course Instructor accompanying your NDT Certification application
  • Apply for NDT Certification within 90 days of successfully completing the Advanced Course
