Seminar Description: We know early intervention is critical for optimizing an infant’s development and functional potential; therefore, as clinicians, we are seeking ways to promote their participation. This course is designed for the pediatric therapist who desires to improve their assessment and intervention in the treatment of babies and young children. Important aspects of development will be addressed in this course through both didactic lectures and labs, as well as problem-solving labs that build on a solid foundation of typical and atypical components, along with sensory components that impact development. Direct handling will be discussed and practiced during labs using a multidisciplinary approach, working from an understanding of current, contemporary Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) practice models to assessment and intervention. This application will be applied to babies and children during functional skills such as ADLs and play, and during participation.

Seminar Description: This two-day interactive in-person seminar will utilize lectures, hands-on labs, video analysis, group and individual problem-solving, and patient demonstrations to challenge participants to improve their clinical management of individuals with a diagnosis of stroke or other neurological pathology by understanding the whole body.
Emphasis will be placed on identifying and incorporating strategies that help all disciplines - PT, OT, and SLP - manage many parts of the body to enhance UE function, as well as to manage their own discipline goals in ways that support UE function and do not limit it.
Various upper extremity challenges will be discussed within a problem-solving framework. Labs will allow time for participants to learn and practice hands-on treatment strategies for specific patient problems at various levels of function. Application of these concepts to the evaluation and treatment of an actual patient will be demonstrated, with participants actively involved in the problem-solving process.
Participants will explore the following questions, learn to use NDT problem-solving to find answers, and improve their skills in applying what they’ve learned in these areas to the direct “hands-on” treatment of patients.
Use of NDT Principles to Manage the Adult Patient Who is Severely Neurologically Involved and at a Low Level of Function
10/17/2026
Instructed by: Monica Diamond, PT, MS, NCS, C/NDT
Clinton, MD
Course ID: A0187
NDT Approved Credit: 8
Seminar Description: Through lectures, labs, and patient demonstrations, participants will have an opportunity to develop their understanding and skill in treating the functional limitations of patients with neuromotor system impairments, with an emphasis on patients who are severely involved and functioning at a low level. Labs will provide an opportunity to assess and practice strategies to improve patients' performance in mobility and ADL activities. Problem-solving for individual patient needs will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced.

Seminar Description: During this two-day seminar, the participant will learn about the principles and strategies of the Contemporary Practice of NDT as currently applied to adults with profound impairments resulting from stroke or traumatic brain injury. The emphasis will be on improving early mobility from the bed, seated postural balance, and early transitional movement skills during meaningful and functional tasks, as well as the application of tactile feedback to enhance effective movement strategies for the successful completion of these tasks. The seminar emphasizes a problem-solving approach to integrated patient assessment based on an understanding of functional limitations, system impairments, and motor dysfunction. The information presented includes a discussion of the following topics: contraversive pushing behavior, research supporting neuro recovery and neuroplasticity, and the identification of treatment variables promoting neuroplastic changes. The seminar includes lectures and interactive problem-solving laboratory sessions to practice therapeutic handling techniques to optimize treatment activities to address motor dysfunction.
NDT Foundations: Understanding Interventions that lead to Improved Functionals Outcomes
12/11/2026 - 12/12/2026
Instructed by: Kris Gellert, OTR/L, C/NDT; Tracy Scholfield, OTR/L, C/NDT
Greensboro, NC
Course ID: A0188
NDT Approved Credit: 14
Seminar Description: This will be a two-day introductory live seminar for OT/OTA, PT/PTA, and SLP. This interdisciplinary seminar is designed to help clinicians enhance their skills in the assessment and interventions toward improved function for patients with stroke or brain injury. Participants will be guided toward a thorough understanding of movement throughout the whole body that is either helpful or counterproductive and how that movement directly links to future participation in daily life skills such as bathing, dressing, eating, transferring and walking.
Through lecture, lab, patient demonstration and/or video analysis, as well as group problem solving participants will gain practical assessment and intervention skills to help facilitate improved function in the patients they serve e.g., functional mobility, BADL/IADL, eating and swallowing, breath support/communication throughout the continuum.
