Seminar Description: Through lectures, labs, and patient demonstrations, participants will have an opportunity to develop their understanding and skill in treating the functional limitations of patients with neuromotor system impairments, across the continuum of care. Particular emphasis will be placed on the need for an understanding of the entire body, and the development of skills in the management of multiple body segments in order to achieve functional goals of all disciplines. Labs will provide an opportunity for assessment and practice of strategies for improving patient performance of mobility and ADL activities. Problem-solving for individual patient needs will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced.

Seminar Description: This two-day interactive in-person seminar will utilize lectures, hands-on labs, video analysis, group and individual problem-solving, and patient demonstrations to challenge participants to improve their clinical management of individuals with a diagnosis of stroke or other neurological pathology by understanding the whole body. Emphasis will be placed on identifying and incorporating strategies that help all disciplines - PT, OT, and SLP - manage many parts of the body to enhance UE function, as well as to manage their own discipline goals in ways that support UE function and do not limit it. Various upper extremity challenges will be discussed within a problem-solving framework. Labs will allow time for participants to learn and practice hands-on treatment strategies for specific patient problems at various levels of function. Application of these concepts to the evaluation and treatment of an actual patient will be demonstrated, with participants actively involved in the problem-solving process. Participants will explore the following questions, learn to use NDT problem-solving to find answers, and improve their skills in applying what they’ve learned in these areas to the direct “hands-on” treatment of patients.

Seminar Description: It is a special joy to work with infants and toddlers. In this interactive course, participants will apply principles of evidence-based motor control theories and neuroplasticity to assess movement problems and develop effective intervention strategies. Participants will gain an understanding of postural control and its relationship to movement, including play, transitions, speech, feeding, and communication. Therapists will learn through assessment of neurotypical and atypical babies to guide the development of effective treatment strategies. Participants will learn and practice various treatment strategies, including transitions, upright posture, postural control, rib cage mobility, upper extremity, and feeding/speech activities to achieve meaningful functional participation outcomes appropriate for this age group, as well as how to collaborate with parents to incorporate therapeutic routines into daily family life. Therapists will analyze and apply strategies through lectures, videos, and labs, all designed to provide therapists with ideas and tools they can instantly apply to this age group in their practice. Case studies include babies with prematurity, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other impairments.

Webinars

NDTA webinars offer a variety of educational opportunities in a safe, and virtual format. Webinars can be as little as an hour, or progress over several sessions to meet the needs of both pediatric and adult therapists.

Enhancing UE Function by Addressing Foundational Components of Postural Control

10/22/2025 - 7:00 - 8:30 PM (ET)

Instructed by: Monica Diamond, PT, MS, NCS, C/NDT and Tracy Scholfield, OTR, C/NDT

Virtual

NDT Approved Credit 1.5

Course ID: A0144

Webinar Description: This webinar is the second in a series designed for therapists who are looking for ways to better understand how to address the postural control problems that interfere with function in the leg, arm, trunk, head, and entire body. In this webinar, participants will explore problems and treatment of the Upper Extremity as they relate to the postural control that is essential for effective treatment. The Contemporary NDT Practice model will be used as a basis for discussion and problem-solving. Pictures and videos of treatment strategies, combined with discussion of rationale for development and implementation of the strategies, will provide participants with greater understanding of how to manage postural control deficits as they address the UE. This will lead them to greater understanding of their patients’ movement problems, and enhanced ability to achieve functional change in the UE.

Functional Task Analysis: An NDT Perspective

11/21/2025 - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (ET)

Instructed by: Christine Cayo, OTR/L, C/NDT and Kim Westhoff, OTR/L, C/NDT

Virtual

NDT Approved Credit 3.0

Course ID: A0147

Webinar Description: Do you ever wonder, “Where do I begin with this client? What are the most important concerns to address? How do I address function in this individual with complex issues?” We will utilize NDT Contemporary practice guidelines to discuss task analysis specific to a distinct functional goal. Using an in-depth understanding of the critical components needed to complete a designated functional task, we will analyze the movements of an individual performing the task and then identify the aspects for intervention for that functional task.

Two case studies will be presented to synthesize further information discussed with clinical application.

Webinar Description: This 1.5-hour webinar will introduce the Core Principles of the Contemporary Practice of Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT). This course is appropriate for therapists working with individuals across the lifespan. Descriptions of each principle will be introduced through lecture, illustrations, and/or pre-recorded videos, which will emphasize how this information is used in practice for Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology professionals. This webinar is directed to improve the knowledge of the contemporary practice of NDT as it has evolved with neuroscience evidence, without the bias or historical teaching of the NDT practice. The webinar will provide examples of treatment strategies and how the principles can guide therapeutic evaluations and intervention progressions. Instructors will lead a question-and-answer session to assess understanding.

Webinar Description: Motor planning—the ability to plan, sequence, and execute movement—is essential in early childhood, forming the foundation for communication, feeding, mobility, and broader functional development. Efficient movement depends on aligned body segments and coordinated respiration, making breath control an essential yet often overlooked aspect of motor learning.

In fast-paced clinical settings, prioritizing treatment is key. This webinar explores cutting-edge insights on neuroplasticity, motor learning, feedback, and the NDT Practice Model, equipping clinicians with practical strategies to maximize functional gains in every session. Learn how to apply hands-on techniques that integrate postural alignment and breath control with speech and functional movement goals, ultimately supporting intelligible speech sound production, functional communication, and functional movement. Additionally, discover how to coach parents to reinforce progress beyond therapy, ensuring meaningful change in daily life.

This webinar is intended for speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists who support children with neurological diagnoses across clinical, educational, and home-based settings. Participants are expected to have a foundational understanding of the respiratory system, as the intervention strategies presented will build upon this knowledge. The session will provide practical, evidence-informed tools to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration and promote meaningful functional outcomes for children and their families. Content will be delivered through lectures, video, and photo demonstrations of the intervention techniques discussed.
