Seminar Description: This two-day interactive in-person seminar will utilize lectures, hands-on labs, video analysis, group and individual problem-solving, and patient demonstrations to challenge participants to improve their clinical management of individuals with a diagnosis of stroke or other neurological pathology by understanding the whole body.
Emphasis will be placed on identifying and incorporating strategies that help all disciplines - PT, OT, and SLP - manage many parts of the body to enhance UE function, as well as to manage their own discipline goals in ways that support UE function and do not limit it.
Various upper extremity challenges will be discussed within a problem-solving framework. Labs will allow time for participants to learn and practice hands-on treatment strategies for specific patient problems at various levels of function. Application of these concepts to the evaluation and treatment of an actual patient will be demonstrated, with participants actively involved in the problem-solving process. Participants will explore the following questions, learn to use NDT problem-solving to find answers, and improve their skills in applying what they’ve learned in these areas to the direct “hands-on” treatment of patients.

Seminar Description: It is a special joy to work with infants and toddlers. In this interactive course, participants will apply principles of evidence-based motor control theories and neuroplasticity to assess movement problems and develop effective intervention strategies. Participants will gain an understanding of postural control and its relationship to movement, including play, transitions, speech, feeding, and communication. Therapists will learn through assessment of neurotypical and atypical babies to guide the development of effective treatment strategies. Participants will learn and practice various treatment strategies, including transitions, upright posture, postural control, rib cage mobility, upper extremity, and feeding/speech activities to achieve meaningful functional participation outcomes appropriate for this age group, as well as how to collaborate with parents to incorporate therapeutic routines into daily family life. Therapists will analyze and apply strategies through lectures, videos, and labs, all designed to provide therapists with ideas and tools they can instantly apply to this age group in their practice. Case studies include babies with prematurity, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other impairments.
Align, Activate, Re-educate: Achieving Functional Outcomes with the Adult with a Neuro Diagnosis Using the NDT Approach
4/25/2026 - 4/26/2026
Instructed by: Monica Diamond, PT, MS, NCS, C/NDT; Kris Gellert, OTR/L, C/NDT
St. Paul, MN
NDT Approved Credit 14
Course ID: A0148
Seminar Description: Through lectures, labs, and patient demonstrations, participants will have an opportunity to develop their understanding and skill in treating the functional limitations of patients with neuromotor system impairments across the continuum of care. Particular emphasis will be placed on the need for an understanding of the entire body and the development of skills in the management of multiple body segments in order to achieve functional goals of all disciplines. Labs will provide an opportunity for assessment and practice of strategies for improving patient performance of mobility and ADL activities. Problem-solving for individual patient needs will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced.
Treatment of the Hemiplegic Upper Extremity in Function: A Contemporary Practice of NDT
4/25/2026 - 4/26/2026
Instructed by: Jodi Renard, PT, DPT, CBIS, C/NDT
Waxahachie, TX
Course ID: A0164
NDT Approved Credit 15
Seminar Description: During this two-day course, the participant will learn about the principles and strategies of the Contemporary Practice of NDT along with current evidence-based clinical practice for adults with impairments resulting from stroke or traumatic brain injury. Clinical assessment and treatment strategies presented will be based on an understanding of the biomechanics and kinesiology of the shoulder girdle complex, postural control requirements for function and upper extremity task analysis. The participant will learn to identify (multi-system) impairments and utilize appropriate movement strategies for optimal treatment results. The emphasis will be on improving early use of the hemiparetic upper extremity for stabilization needed for postural control, early integration of the arm in bed mobility and transitional movements, along with early reach skills during meaningful and functional tasks to complete ADLs and IADLs. Lab will emphasize the application of tactile feedback to enhance effective movement strategies for the successful completion of these tasks. The course includes lecture, videotape presentations and a patient treatment demonstrated by the instructor to demonstrate the interactive process between task analysis and treatment intervention for the upper extremity in relation to the functional postural requirements. Therapeutic handling techniques utilized in treatment to address motor dysfunction will be demonstrated and practiced in interactive problem-solving laboratory sessions. The development of fine motor control of the hand are outside the scope of this introductory seminar.
NDT Intervention for Children with Neuromuscular Disorders
5/15/2026 - 5/16/2026
Instructed by: Kimberly Westhoff, OTR/L, C/NDT; Debbie Evans-Rogers, PT, PhD, PCS, C/NDT
Marlton, NJ
Course ID: A0160
NDT Approved Credit 13
Seminar Description: Utilizing movement observations and systems analysis, this seminar will provide NDT intervention strategies, including direct handling for the pediatric client with neuromuscular difficulties. The focus will be on expanding the clinician’s clinical reasoning skills through an understanding of contemporary NDT, the NDT Practice Model and principles, the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework, and their application to intervention. Functional limitations and impairments will be addressed using specific hands-on strategies to improve functional mobility and postural control with children during daily life skills such as ADLs, play and community participation. Participants will be assisted in improving their handling skills while problem-solving using the NDT Practice Model.
An NDT Treatment Approach to the Baby
8/28/2026 - 8/29/2026
Instructed by: Kimberly Westhoff, OTR/L, C/NDT; Debbie Evans-Rogers, PT, PhD, PCS, C/NDT
Kansas City, MO
Course ID: A0161
NDT Approved Credit 13
Seminar Description: We know early intervention is critical for optimizing an infant’s development and functional potential; therefore, as clinicians, we are seeking ways to promote their participation. This course is designed for the pediatric therapist who desires to improve their assessment and intervention in the treatment of babies and young children. Important aspects of development will be addressed in this course through both didactic lectures and labs, as well as problem-solving labs that build on a solid foundation of typical and atypical components, along with sensory components that impact development. Direct handling will be discussed and practiced during labs using a multidisciplinary approach, working from an understanding of current, contemporary Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) practice models to assessment and intervention. This application will be applied to babies and children during functional skills such as ADLs and play, and during participation.
